The Ghost Sonata relates the adventures of a young student, who idealizes the lives of the inhabitants of a stylish apartment building in Stockholm. He makes the acquaintance of the mysterious Jacob Hummel, who helps him to find his way into the apartment, only to find that it is a nest of betrayal and sickness. The world, the student learns, is hell and human beings must suffer to achieve salvation. The play centers on a family of strangers who meet for the sake of meeting. They exchange no dialogue, nor gestures, they simply sit and bask in their own misfortune.

Fabian Bom, auctionist in a small town, one day finds a baby boy in a small crib that is for sale at an auction. He places the boy at an orphanage but returns the next day since he realizes that he misses the boy. Since both of them are known by the local Nazis, Sture takes on the role of Miss Märta Letterström, and Kurre also has to make use of his feminine side as well as a dress.

In a movie studio, a fight scene is underway. The hero, played by Allan Bergner, will make an impression on the heroine, played by Ylva Vendel. But Allan is not prepared to give more than one pale hint of fight; he wants to be presentable in later scenes as well. The director wears his hair.

An out-of-work musician is desperate for work and when his best friend sees an add requesting a cellist he signs him up. However, the work is for a female, so he creates the character Märta Letterström and joins the trio at a small-town hotel. But being a woman is not as easy as you think.

The chamberlain Carl Johan Stjärna is a poor aristocrat who has to resort to borrowing money from his manservant Frans to afford champagne and restaurant visits. Frans has told his fiance Irene that he is an aristocrat which leads to some complications, not least because Irene has told Frans she is a rich land owner's daughter, although she is in a housemaid.

At the naval academy Erik gets into a fistfight and is expelled, to instead become a captain of a trading ship. Before he leaves Ingrid and Erik are engaged in secret. Later, when Erik is believed to be lost at sea, Ingrid instead gets engaged with Arne.

Oppressed by landowners, a peasant uprising ensues as an outlaw farmer refuses to pay taxes in this film adapted from Vilhelm Moberg's novel.

A local newspaper editor in northern Sweden starts to spread a rumor that sextuplets has been born. In reality it turns out that it's only two sets of twins.

Swedish Comedy film

The Swedish officer Mikael Bourg has served with the French army in Africa. When he returns to Sweden after many years abroad to recover from malaria, he meets his son, a student who prefers partying with his frat friends instead of his bank job; a disappointment in his father's eyes. He also meets a young librarian, Ebba Garland, which makes him feel young again and distracts him from the sickness.

Lisa Larsson, dancer at a theater, witnesses a traffic accident and banker Brenner's private driver asks her to be a witness. When her friends see her talk to the driver, they start to believe that she is Brenner's fiancée. The manager of the theater, Gravander, gives her the leading part in his latest show, in order to befriend Brenner. Larsson plays along in this mistake and when Brenner hears about this he asks to see Larsson, pretending to be a news journalist... Plot by Mattias Thuresson.

Bicycle factory director Wallensjö regularly fires his bookkeeper Gunnar, who has taken a liking to Wallensjös daughter Maj, and uses a baby left on hos brother's doorstep to trick Wallensjö into believing they've become parents.
