은빛 지구는 역사상 가장 획기적인 SF영화가 됐을지도 모른다. 막대한 예산, 사색을 불러일으키는 각본, 대담하고 예술적인 영상은 걸작의 탄생을 약속했다. 그렇다면 대체 왜 당시의 공산주의 영화계 결정권자들은 촬영 완료까지 2주밖에 남지 않은 상황에서 제작을 중단시켰을까? 경제적 이유였을까? 아니면 정치적이거나 예술적인 이유? 혹은 개인적 이유였을까? 이 영화의 파편들은 30여 년 전과 변함없이 지금도 제작진의 감정을 자극하고, 관객에게 영감을 준다. 이 다큐멘터리는 폴란드영화의 가장 큰 미스터리이자 가장 위대한, 그러나 실현되지 못한 꿈에 관한 이야기다.

스탠리 큐브릭이 영화적 유산에 남긴 업적은 과히 가늠하기 힘들 정도이다. 그는 그 어떤 감독보다도 많이 연구된 감독이지만, 사실 지금까지 큐브릭 감독의 말을 직접 들을 수 있는 기회는 거의 없었다. 영화는 큐브릭 감독의 친밀한 초상으로 관객을 이끈다.

A lonely 17 –year-old Ania (the Newbie) is seeking acceptance in a group of peers playing risky urban games. She pays for her strivings with a loss of faith in values. With nothing to lose, Ania invents a daredevil game, supposed to provoke the group and especially its leader-Czarny, to think. The surprising end of the film gives a new chance to return to normality for its characters. The film is based on the short story 'Moc słowa' [The Power of Word] by Anna Czajka and corresponds to the second Commandment: 'You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain'.

Piotr Tymochowicz, media advisor to some of Poland's top politicians, claims that anybody can be molded into a charismatic leader. Polish master Marcel Lozinksi followed Tymochowicz and this project for three years, and this beautifully shot and edited work paints a compelling portrait of cynical (and quite familiar) demagogy and populism in action.
