In 1971, director Melvin Van Peebles turned the figure of the black hero in US cinema upside down with Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song: the story of the making of a seminal movie that initiated the Blaxploitation movement, a short-lived but highly influential sub-genre in the years that followed.

This film is actually two one hour stories, the first based on a Stephen King story called the "Chattering Teeth" about a man who picks up a hitchhiker and the second is based on a Clive Barker story called "The Body Politic" about hands that rebel against the body.

Bright and eager to hit the streets in search of bad guys, rookie cop Christine Paly is disappointed when she's instead assigned to process criminals. Under the supervision of a tough but likable mentor, Christine quickly learns that hers is like no other desk job in the world.

캐시(Kathy Whiting: 하리 제인 코작 분)는 남편 피터(Peter: 빌 풀만 분)와의 결혼 생활에 권태를 느끼고 있는 가정 주부. 캐시는 고등학교 졸업 15주년 동창회가 열린다는 소식을 듣고 옛 남자친구인 톰(Tom Andrews: 켄 왈 분)의 안부가 궁금해진다. 캐시에게는 미술 작품 딜러로 활동하는 단짝친구 에밀리(Emily: 엘리자베스 맥거번 분)가 있다. 에밀리는 연하의 미술가 엘리엇과 동거 생활을 하지만 알지 못할 불안감에 그에게 절교를 선언한다. 톰과 2년을 사귀면서도 잠자리 한번 해본 적 없는 캐시는 덴버에 갈 일이 있는 에밀리에게 톰을 찾아가볼 것을 제안한다. 한편 엘리엇과 헤어진 에밀리는 자신이 임신한 사실을 깨닫고 그 사실을 엘리엇에게 알려야 할지 말아야 할 지 고민한다. 캐시는 에밀리 몰래 엘리엇에게 에밀리의 임신 사실을 알려준다. 그러자 엘리엇은 에밀리와 결혼하는 문제에 대해 진지하게 생각한다. 그러던 어느 날 에밀리는 캐시가 자신의 임신 사실을 엘리엇에게 알린 것을 알고 홧김에 그 아이가 엘리엇의 아이가 아니라 톰의 아이라고 거짓말한다. 이 때문에 이들 사이에 오해가 생기는데.

생화학자 캠블 박사는 애스턴 재단의 후원으로 남미의 열대림에서 연구를 진행하고 있다. 그는 재단의 입김으로 자신의 연구가 방해받지 않기 위해 3년 동안 재단과의 연락을 두절하고 있었다. 어느날 캠블박사는 이 원주민 부족에서만 서식하는 약초를 발견하여 이를 이용해 인류를 암으로부터 해발시킬 수 있는 암치료제를 만들어 낸다. 하지만 처음으로 제조한 샘플만이 약효가 있고 그 나머지는 효과가 없다는 것을 알게 되고 추가적인 자원이 필요함을 깨닫게 된다. 이에 캠블박사는 3년간 연락을 끊었던 재단에 연구조수와 실험장비를 요청하게 된다. 이러한 사실을 모르는 재단은 고지식한 여성 생화학자 크레인박사를 파견하여 캠블박사의 연구 진행 결과를 검토하여 연구비 지원 여부를 결정짓도록 한다. 불쾌한 첫 대면 후 캠블박사와 크레인박사는 사사건건 부딪히게 되나 캠블박사가 암치료제를 만들어냈음을 확인한 크레인박사는 그의 연구에 적극 동참하게 되고, 이런 속에서 서로에 대한 불쾌한 감정은 서로에 대한 존경으로 변해가고 서서히 서로에 대한 사랑을 확인해 나간다. 둘은 문제 해결을 위해 최선을 다하나 이미 정부의 개발 계획에 따라 약초가 서식하는 지역에 도로가 나게 되고 이로 인해 그들의 실험은 시간이 촉박한데...

A retired criminal lawyer is persuaded to take on one more case and becomes involved with his client's wife.

Jeff Gerber, a racist insurance agent and fitness freak, lives in a typical suburban neighborhood. But Jeff's bigoted world of taunting and harassing black people on and off the job is turned upside down when his skin inexplicably turns dark overnight. As Jeff tries to come to terms with this unexplained phenomenon that has befallen him, he soon becomes the victim himself, when all of his friends and neighbors suddenly shun and harass him.
