사악한 마법사 다모다르는 검은 용을 부활시켜 이즈멜 왕국 전체를 파괴하려는 음모를 꾸미고, 우연히 이 사실을 알게 된 마법사 멜로라는 왕에게 이 사실을 알린다. 왕국을 구하기 위해 멜로라의 남편이자 최고의 전사인 베렉은 각각 지식, 지혜, 명예, 힘을 뜻하는 4명의 전사들이 모아 용을 물리칠 수 있는 구를 찾아 원정길에 나선다. 다모다르는 자신의 정체를 알게 된 멜로라에게 흡혈귀가 되어 죽는 저주를 내리고 마법사 회의에서는 용이 숨어 있는 곳을 알아내기 위해 지혜를 모은다.
