Girls in Trouble: Space Squad Episode Zero is an installment in the Toei Company V-Cinema series. Space Squad serves as a crossover between the revival of the Metal Heroes' Space Sheriff series and the Super Sentai series Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. A prologue to Gavan vs. Dekaranger, this movie focuses on the female characters of both series.

During the Edo period of Japan, out of the fear of losing authority, the Tokugawa shogunate hires the Shinsengumi to bring down the Imperial Court. However, the Satsuma Clan finds out about the Tokugawa's scheme and sends the last five Kunoichi (female ninjas) of Hiryu Ninja Clan, to spy on the Shinsengumi. A trio of bad boys comes across some ghosts and monsters. They decide to visit a pharmacist in their town to ask for his advice because he is said to have power to communicate with the spirit world. The mysterious old man says “if you meet ghosts and they attack you, you should show the cards and chant some spell which I will give you...” . Then gives the trio three cards which have odd spells written on them. The boys bravely fight against the monsters following the pharmacist’s instructions, but...! Why do the ghosts and monsters appear only in front of the boys?

감독은 이가라시 타쿠야. 각본 야마구치 료타. 미즈노 아미의 인기가 엄청나게 높아지게 되자 아예 아미를 주인공으로 만들었다. 원작 코믹스의 외전 단편 '입시전쟁편 : 아미의 첫사랑'에 근거해 있다. 아미를 제치고 모의고사에서 1등을 한 '메르쿠리우스'라는 자의 정체를 찾아 나서는 이야기이다. 작화감독 시모기사 미호에 원화 나카야마 히사시, 야마시타 타카아키, 야마시타 아키히코, 호소다 마모루 라는 쟁쟁한 라인업을 자랑한다. 특히 호소다 마모루가 애니메이터로 참여한 작품으로도 유명하다. 그 이전에도 참여했지만 스태프롤까지 이름이 올라간 건 이 작품이 최초이다.

Take the characters from a number of sci-fi based animes, a stage not unlike "Wacky Races," super deformed madness, and general insanity and what you get is Scramble Wars. While Scramble Wars does include characters from the original Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force and Genesis Survivor Gaiarth, it also has a few other characters from other animes such as AD Police and Riding Bean.
