From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A. Michael Baldwin (born April 4, 1963) is an American actor, producer, and screenwriter. He is the son of animator Gerard Baldwin, who worked on classic shows such as The Jetsons, Rocky and Bullwinkle, George of the Jungle and many more.[1] Michael Baldwin began acting in his teens and was also a member of the Teenage Drama Workshop at California State University. He is best known for his roles as Mike in the Phantasm films (except for Phantasm II). Baldwin practices Eastern Mysticism, and in the 1980s temporarily left acting to explore his spirituality. Some of his latest accomplishments are writing, producing, and appearing in Vice Girls, and its sequel. He has also taught acting classes and workshops in Los Angeles. '환타즘 4'는 전편 이후 4년만에 나온 후속편으로 역대 시리즈 중 가장 완성도가 떨어지는 시리즈물이다! 이번편은 시리즈의 완결편 혹은 에필로그의 성격이 강하지만, 이후에 '환타즘, 래비져'라는 후속편이 나왔을 뿐만 아니라 영화의 엔딩 역시 미완적인 결말이라 엄밀히 말하면 그냥 시리즈를 이어주는 징검다리같은 작품이다. 이번 편이 시리즈의 완결이니 에필로그 같다고 주장하는 이유는 영화의 스토리 중 과거 회상 장면이 너무나 큰 비중을 차지하기 때문이다!! 흔히 인생을 길에 빗대어 말하는데 극중 마이크는 사막의 도로를 달리며, 과거의 사건들을 되돌아보는 방식으로 스토리가 전개된다. 대부분의 과거 회상 장면들은 시리즈 첫작품에서 벌어진 사건들로 구성돼 있으며 특이하게도 편집 과정에서 잘려나간 미공개 시퀀스를 다수 포함하고 있어 주목을 끈다. 더구나 이런 미공개 시퀀스를 현재의 스토리와 교묘히 연결시켜 과거와 현재를 오가는 독특한 플롯으로 재조합해 흥미를 더한다. 그러나 과거 회상 부분이 영화의 메인이 되면서 스토리는 빈약하기 이를 데 없다. 이전 시리즈 역시 스토리가 부실하기는 마찬가지였지만 이번 편과 비교한다면 그나마 양호한 수준이다.

Mike

죽음의 세계를 장악하려는 악마의 회신 톨맨에 의해 부모와 형을 잃은 마이크는 난쟁이의 습격과 톨맨의 수하인 은빛 살인공의 습격에 시달린다. 형의 분신인 쇠공과 형의 친구 레지의 도움에도 불구하고 그는 톨맨에게 붙잡히고 톨맨은 그 주변지역을 초토화시킨다. 레지는 쇠공의 아내를 따라 사격술의 천재소년 팀, 특공무술가 록키와 함께 마이크를 구해내는데 성공한다. 톨맨은 지하 공동묘지에서 갓 죽은 자의 뇌를 쇠공에 담아 자신의 부하로 만들고 있었던 것이다. 뇌를 잃은 시체들의 습격을 피해 간신히 톨맨을 제거하지만 이미 마이크는 머리에 쇠공이 장치된 상태, 엎친데 덮친격으로 파괴된 줄 알았던 톨맨이 다시 나타나는데.

'톨맨(The Tall Man: 앤거스 스크림 분)'은 악마 집단의 우두머리이다. 이 '톨맨'에 의해 가족을 잃은 마이크(Mike: 제임스 르그로스 분)와 레지(Reggie: 레지 배니스터 분)는 복수를 위해 그들의 뒤를 쫓는다. 각 지방을 돌아다니면서 공동 묘지의 시체, 산 사람을 가리지않고 악마로 재생시키는 톨맨 일당과 이를 뒤 쫓아오는 마이크 일행은 마침내 라곤다란 마을에서 대결투를 벌이게 되는 데 결국 마이크 일행은 이들을 섬멸시키고 만다. 승리의 기쁨 속에서 그들에게 다시 오는 또다시 무서운 일이 벌어진다. 힘겹게 섬멸시켰던 톨맨이 다시 그들 앞에 나타나서 마이크 일행에게 복수를 하고 마이크 일행은 죽음을 당하는데...
