쌍둥이 동생 소피의 갑작스런 자살에 혼란스런 매건. 매건은 동생을 잃은 슬픔을 달래기 위해 친구들과 함께 매년 하지(夏至)때마다 묵었던 호수 별장으로 여행을 떠난다. 하지(夏至) 때 동생 소피와 함께 보낸 시간들이 계속 떠오르는 매건은 소피의 물건들을 하나하나씩 정리하고, 소피의 연인이자 매건의 친구인 크리스찬은 슬픔에 잠긴 매건을 사랑으로 감싸 안는다. 죽은자와 산자의 경계가 무너지는 하지(夏至)가 다가오면서 알 수 없는 기이한 일들이 일어나고, 매건은 동생 소피의 영혼이 자신의 곁에 맴돌고 있음을 느낀다. 자신에게 무언가를 말하려 한다는 것을 직감한 매건은 동생의 영혼을 깨우기 위해 죽은자의 영혼을 부르는 하지의식을 치르는데… 하지만, 하지의식 후… 매건은 정체를 알 수 없는 저주의 기운이 더욱 강해짐을 느끼게 되고, 소피가 아닌 또 다른 영혼의 저주에 휩싸이게 되는데…

Oscar and Josefine are celebrating Midsummer with Oscar's grandparents in the country. A demon, Thorsen, gives Josefine the gift of enabling her to travel back in time. Visiting Oscar's family in the 17th century, Josefine saves a sickly young girl from the stake. But now the villagers see Josefine as a witch and want to burn her at the stake instead.

It is the last day of school for Christian and his younger sister Sophie. They are heading to a party at his friend Trina. High school graduation is just around the corner and after the freedom and future. But behind the idyllic facade lurks tragedy and secrets. That evening Sophie commits suicide.
