친구 결혼식에 참석하기 위해 자동차 여행을 떠나기로 한 사이먼과 이바, 리처드. 출발하기 직전 사이먼의 여자 친구이자 이바의 친구인 로라가 갑자기 여행을 가지 않겠다고 하는 바람에 셋이 여행을 떠나게 된다. 비디오 촬영을 좋아하는 사이먼은 쉬지 않고 카메라로 두 사람은 물론 주변 풍경을 찍는다. 그런데 카메라에 찍히는 사람의 얼굴이 이상하게 보이기 시작하더니, 카메라에 찍힌 사람은 곧 죽음을 맞이하게 된다. 세 사람이 묵었던 모텔, 잠시 지나치며 만났던 관광객들, 편의점 점원은 물론 경찰까지. 시간이 흐르면서 그 사실을 깨닫고 겁에 질린 사이먼과 그런 사이먼을 보면서 이상하게 여기는 이바와 리처드. 결국 사이먼은 자신이 깨달은 사실을 이바와 리처드에게도 털어놓는데...
