13-year-old Sofi moves involuntary from the big city to the countryside with her mother, and her mother's boyfriend while all her friends is back in the city. At the new place Sofi meet up with a wise old lady, that tells her scary stories about unsolved mysteries from the village past.

Maggi meets David after having missed her train, and they spend the night together. Penniless, the young lovers break into a summer cottage. The owner, Håkansson, offers to rent it to them, but he has an ulterior motive. By living together, they have to face their pasts and deal with the meddling neighbors and authorities.

An artist lives with his wife in a large house on the countryside. She is bored, longing to return to the city and her life as an actress. She leaves him. He falls in love with a young girl, not knowing that the girl is his wife's daughter.

Shipmate Henrik gets in contact with two women in Gothenburg — the sociable Lisbeth and the shy Astrid.

Kurre and Inga are engaged to be married. However, as they are very poor, they can't afford it just yet. They live separate, both in small apartments with a friend. Inga works at an office and Kurre at a small factory. Inga has a liability to be late in the mornings and this gets her into some trouble at the office, because of her very strict boss. This, along with the fact that another girl starts to court Kurre puts their relationship to the test, a crisis which is easier said than done to solve.

Inger lives at home with his parents. She suspects that she is pregnant. A doctor notes her pregnancy and urge her to seek the child's father. The doctor offers her an abortion, but she refuses.

Young woman Marta dreams of a better future and leaves her parent's cabbage patch and move to Stockholm. Waiting tables doesn't pay nearly enough and she soon finds herself working the streets. Her teenage sweetheart Adrian also moves to Stockholm to search for her. Plot by Mattias Thuresson.

An engineer and a businessman is on the run from Manchuria, where revolution and civil war erupted. Both suffer from typhoid and the businessman dies. Before he dies, he changes identity with the engineer.

Urban girl falls for rugged forest ranger.

The tailor Tosse is ordered to return to his old regiment to practice what he learned many years ago. But he asks his assistant Loffe to go there instead of himself. Everything is fine until Loffe gets the same order - at the same regiment. When Tosse comes to the regiment, it becomes a case of mistaken identity. Due to the confusion, Loffe is now Tosse's platoon commander. Plot by Mattias Thuresson.
