고가의 미술품 털이범 에릭(Eric: 크리스 웨버 분)과 모가나(Morgana: 홀리 필드 분)는 고대 유물을 털기 위해 박물관에 침입한다. 그러나 경보기가 울리는 바람에 그들은 경비원과 총격전을 벌이게 되고 황급히 박물관을 빠져 나온다. 그러나 그 와중에 에릭은 파손된 조각상 안에 내장되어있던 이상한 돌을 손에 넣게 된다. 그러나 격렬한 총격전 끝에 에릭은 결국 총상을 입고 모가나만 빠져 나온다. 그 직후 부상당해 있는 에릭 앞에 무시무시한 괴물이 모습을 드러낸다. 그의 이름은 진. 3천년동안 마법에 걸려 그 이상한 돌 속에 갇혀 있다가 모가나와 에릭 덕분에 세상에 모습을 드러낸 것이다. 그는 에릭의 영혼을 뺏고 곧 세상 밖으로 나온다. 그가 찾아간 곳은 교도소. 진의 목적은 이 세상을 자신이 지배하는 악마의 세상으로 바꾸고, 자신도 영생을 얻고자 하는데 있다. 그러기 위해선 인간의 소원을 한가지씩 들어주고, 그 대신 천명의 영혼을 얻어와야 하는데, 온갖 불만과 바라는 것이 많은 교도소가 그가 찾는 적합한 장소이기 때문이다. 교도소에 순수히 들어온 진은 죄수들의 소원을 들어주고 대신 인간의 영혼을 계속해서 뺏는다. 소기의 목적을 달성한 그가 찾은 두번째 장소는 카지노. 그가 들어오면서 카지노는 일대 소동이 일어나고, 그에게 소원을 말한 사람들은 한 명도 빠짐없이 진에 의해서 무참히 죽어나간다. 한편 에릭을 잃고 슬픔에 잠겨 있던 모가나는 TV를 통해 진의 존재를 알게 되고, 신부로 있는 자신의 친구와 함께 그를 찾아가 그의 정체를 알아낸다. 하지만 진은 예언을 실행하기 위해 무차별적으로 사람들의 영혼을 수집하며, 이제 때가 되었노라고 모가나를 협박한다.

Robgen industries newest security system is "The J Series Automatic", an android model designed and programmed to protect humans from violent attacks. But one night, an Automatic named J269 discovers a Robgen executive trying to rape a female employee named Nora Rochester. While trying to stop the crime, he inadvertently kills the executive. At this point, J269 then calls Goddard Marx (his creator and a Robgen chairman) to inform him of the incident. Marx tells the android to stay there with Rochester until help arrives, but Marx is intent on sweeping the fiasco under the rug by sending mercenaries to eliminate both J269 and Rochester. Now the two are fugitives on the run from a para-military hit squad.
