"진저 스냅" 1편의 성공에 힘입어 동시에 만들어 차례로 개봉한 후속작 두 편 중 하나. 진저스냅 삼부작의 3편에 해당하는 영화로 19세기 개척시대의 캐나다를 무대로 하고 있다. "진저 스냅" 1, 2편에 등장하는 진저-브리짓 남매와 전혀 관계없어 보이는 또 다른 진저-브리짓 남매가 캐나다의 오지에서 길을 잃고 헤매는 모습으로 영화는 시작된다. 도중에 만난 수상쩍은 인디언 할머니의 경고를 무시하고 길을 가던 중 브리짓은 사냥꾼이 던져 논 덫에 걸려 상처를 입고 기이한 모습의 인디언 남자의 도움으로 덫에서 풀려나 개척지역의 끝자락에 위치한 포트 베일리라는 곳으로 피난하게 된다. 무역업자와 탐험가들로 이루어진 마을주민들로부터 보호를 받으며 생활을 하지만 피난처라고 생각했던 그곳은 사나운 늑대인간들로부터 포위 공격을 받고 있다는 사실을 깨닫는 순간 감옥으로 변한다. 수수께끼 같은 모습의 인디언만이 그녀들의 유일한 희망이지만 진저가 늑대인간의 습격을 받아 전염된 후부터는 외진 야생의 오지에서 아무도 그녀들의 도움이 되어주질 않는다. 아메리카 원주민과 유럽 식민지인들과의 대립, 기독교인들의 여성에 대한 편견, 다른 인종에 대한 폭력 등의 사회학적 스토리와 19세기를 배경으로 갇힌 공간 속에서 한 명씩 늑대인간에 의해 살해당하는 고전적 공포 영화 소재의 사용으로 풍기는 고딕의 향취는 전편과 전혀 다른 느낌을 준다. 진저와 브리짓이 나누는 현대적인 대사가 19세기를 배경으로 영화에는 조금 어울리지 않는 듯하고 두 자매의 관계가 너무 단조롭다는 느낌이 들기는 하지만 두 자매가 전작의 두 자매와는 전혀 다른 인물이라고 설정하고 영화를 보기 시작하면 나름대로 색다른 스토리 진행의 묘미를 느낄 수 있는 영화.(이민섭)
