88년 히트작 (완다라는 이름의 물고기)팀이 10여년 만에 다시 모여 만든 코미디로 미국 재벌기업의 천박한 자본주의를 티나지 않게 영악하고 유쾌하게 비꼬는 작품이다. 자산이 70억불이나 되는 미국의 미디어 재벌 그룹 옥토퍼스의 회장 로드 맥케인(케빈 클라인 분)은 오직 이권 확장에만 관심이 있는 악덕 기업주로 바람둥이 아들 빈스(케빈 클라인 분)와는 앙숙지간이다. 옥토퍼스 계열사중 하나인 방송국을 운영하기 위해 스카웃 된 윌라(제이미 리 커티스 분)는 로드가 방송국을 팔아치우는 바람에 졸지에 빈스와 함께 로드 소유의 영국의 한 동물원의 운영을 맡게된다. 한편 동물원 관리자로 있는 전직 경찰 롤로(존 클리즈 분)는 사육사들과의 오해로 동물원에서 한바탕 소동을 벌이고 있었다. 동물을 사랑하는 윌라는 어떻게든 동물원을 제대로 운영하고 싶었지만, 빈스는 매출액이 20%이상 상승하지 않을 경우 로드가 동물원을 폐쇄할 거라는 사실을 이용해 후원금을 모으고 사기를 치려한다. 로드가 동물원을 시찰하기 위해 영국을 방문한 날, 돈을 갖고 튀려는 빈스와 로드의 속셈을 알아내려는 롤로와 사육사들이 돌발 사태를 일으키고 급기야 로드가 오발탄에 맞아 죽게 된다. 과연 이들이 이 아수라장을 어떻게 수습할 것인지...

To commemorate their tenth anniversary a BBC team tracked them down in the deserts of Tunisia where they were filming their Life of Brian and almost persuaded them to examine the genesis, the genius and the gender of Monty Python.
