'채널4'를 비롯해 영국과 스페인 등이 합작한 은 천재감독 장 비고의 일대기를 영화로 옮긴 작품. 장 비고는 와 등으로 프랑스 영화계가 낳은 최고의 '시인'으로 대접받았으며 후에 누벨바그 감독들에게도 적지 않은 영향력을 행사했던 장본인이다. 하지만 요절한 대부분의 예술가들이 그렇듯이, 장 비고의 삶 또한 궁핍했으며 재능있는 자를 질시하는 세인들로부터 손가락질 받았다.
