선배의 부탁으로 병원에서 당직을 서는 의사 '하야미즈 슈고'. 그날 밤, 피에로 가면을 쓴 흉악범이 여대생 인질 '가와사키 마나미'을 데리고 병원에 들이닥친다. 강도로 인해 병원은 외부와 연결이 차단되고 환자 64명과 병원 직원들은 혼돈으로 휩싸인다. 주인공은 인질을 빼내는 데 성공하지만 강도와 병원 원장 그리고 간호사들의 이상한 행동에 단순한 강도사건이 아님을 인지하고 병원 곳곳에서 비밀을 찾아간다. 그리고 병원을 장악한 피에로 가면으로부터 논스톱 탈출을 시도한다.

어두운 새벽 두 시, 붉은 다리 옆 공중전화가 울리고 전화를 받은 아키나는 유마와 함께 터널을 통해 이누나키 마을에 들어간다. 그곳에서 무언가를 본 아키나는 공포에 질린 채 집으로 돌아오지만 저주에 걸린 듯 높은 곳에서 떨어져 자살한다. 아키나의 부검 결과 특이하게도 익사한 것으로 밝혀지지만 부검의 야마노베는 이 사실을 숨긴다. 한편 정신과 의사 카나에는 악몽을 꾸는 아이 료타로를 상담하면서 다시 주위를 맴도는 귀신들을 느끼기 시작한다. 그 후 이누나키 터널에 다시 간 유마와 몰래 형을 따라온 코타는 터널 안으로 사라진다. 얼마 후 료타로가 공황발작으로 병원에 입원하고 위독한 상태의 야마노베 의사가 병원에 실려온다. 그날 밤, 카나에는 꿈속에서 "네 안에 개 살인자의 피가 흐르고 있다"는 말을 듣는다. 카나에는 혈통을 확인하기 위해 외할머니 집을 찾아가고 그곳에서 댐 아래 수몰된 이누나키 마을과 관련된 무서운 비밀을 알게 되는데...

계속되는 전쟁과 환경 파괴, 핵의 발달은 지구 환경을 어지럽혀 잠들어있던 많은 괴수를 깨운다. 이에 지구방위군은 세계각지에서 특수한 신체능력을 가진 새로운 인간 "뮤턴트"를 주요전력으로 M이라는 기관을 조직하게 된다. 한편 지구에 온 외계인 X성인은 우호적인 자세였으나 점차 본색을 드러내어 잠들어있던 괴수들을 깨어내어 조종하기 시작하고, 지구방위군은 최대의 적이자 1954년 처음 그 모습을 나타낸 이후 수 차례 세계를 멸망에 빠뜨릴 뻔한 괴수의 왕 "고질라"를 부활시킨다. 50년 만에 남극 빙산 속에 결빙되어 있다 깨어난 고질라는 그 동안 쌓인 모든 것을 풀어버리겠다는 듯 무서운 기세로 수많은 괴수들을 해치워 나가기 시작하고 뮤턴트와 X성인의 대결, 그리고 고지라와 X성인에 의해 부활한 괴수들의 최후의 결전이 시작된다.

This film is the memoirs of Takasugi Shinsaku about the life of his great teacher Yoshida Shoin. Yoshida Shōin (吉田 松陰, 1830-1859) was one of the most distinguished intellectuals in the closing days of the Tokugawa shogunate. He devoted to developing many Ishin Shishi who made an outstanding contribution to the Meiji Restoration. At least two of his students, Takasugi Shinsaku and Itō Hirobumi later became famous, and virtually all of the survivors of the Sonjuku group became officers in the Meiji Restoration. Takasugi led rifle companies against the shogun's army when it failed to conquer Chōshū in 1864, rapidly leading to the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Ito Hirobumi became Japan's first prime minister. His admirer, Maebara Issei, was later killed rebelling against the Meiji regime. He is now enshrined in Setagayaku-（世田谷区）Tokyo, Japan.
