The story is set in the late 1980s in Chicago. Two children, born to a Korean mother and African-American father, are forced to live with the tangled consequences of their parents' decisions while struggling to traverse a new life in the Windy City.

A mild mannered, single mother, Katrina Jackson (Angel Conwell), and A.D.D. sufferer, DeMarco Gamble (London Brown) are two admiring parents raising their daughter in cut off households. When DeMarco falls in elevate bearing in mind different girl, Vilisa Whitaker (Faune Watkins), and plans a Christmas Wedding; Katrina sets in motion a diabolical turn toward to spoil their fairytale wedding. Sean Patrick Thomas (Save the Last Dance), Clifton Powell (Ray) and Jason Weaver (Drumline) round out the cast.

The film was directed by George Scribner, who is best known for directing Disney's 1988 animated film, Oliver & Company. Mickey's PhilharMagic is a 12-minute-long show featuring 3D effects, scents, and water, as well as a number of characters from Disney movies. Despite Mickey Mouse being the title-bearing character, it is Donald Duck who stars the show. It is shown on the largest purpose-built 3D screen ever made, at 150 feet wide.

Freedom Song (2000) is a made-for-TV film based on true stories of the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi in the 1960s. It tells the story of the struggle of African Americans to register to vote in the fictional town of Quinlan. In the midst of the Freedom Summer, a group of high school students in the small town are eager to make grassroots changes in their own community. The young activists meet resistance not only from white southerners, but from their parents, who have experienced firsthand the violence that can result from speaking out.[1] As high school students band together with the support of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, they make strides in registering African-American voters and gaining awareness for their cause.
