1900년 아일랜드의 어느 마을. 서커스단의 단장이자 사기꾼인 앵거스는 진짜 살아있는 인어를 목격한다. 엄청난 부와 인기에 눈이 먼 그는 인어를 몰래 훔치는데 성공하여 여자 친구인 릴리와 소수의 선원들과 함께 배를 타고 미국으로 향한다. 그러나, 배가 항로에 들어선 후, 사기꾼 앵거스와 선원들은 선상에 위험이 도사리고 있음을 깨닫는다. 수차례의 잔혹한 죽음이 있은 후에야, 선원들은 그들이 데려온 생명체가 인간의 피와 살맛을 즐기는 흉칙한 인어, 바로 신화속의 `퀸 오브 래어`임을 알게된다.

어느날 여자 환자 아이비(헬레나 본햄 카터 분)는 치과의사인 프랭크(스티브 마틴 분)의 처방전을 이용해 마약성분약을 다량 구입한다. 다음날 저녁 늦게, 치료를 위해 홀로 나타난 아이비는 또다시 프랭크를 유혹하고 프랭크는 병원의 동료이자 약혼녀인 진(로라 던 분) 몰래 정사를 나눈다. 다음날, 병원의 마약성분 약품이 모두 도난당한 것을 알았을때 마약단속반이 교통사고 현장에서 입수한 프랭크 명의의 약병을 증거로 약품재고조사를 나온다. 마약 중독자인 아이비가 훔쳐간 것으로 생각한 프랭크는 거짓말로 조사원을 돌려보내고, 직접 약품 회수를 하고자 아이비를 찾아간다. 프랭크의 설득에 아이비는 사실은 남매인 두에인(스콧 칸 분)이 약품을 팔러나갔다고 실토하며, 괴롭히는 두에인을 누가 보내버렸으면 좋겠다고 말한다. 아이비를 만나러 다시 모텔을 찾은 프랭크는 술집과 병원에서 다툰적이 있는 두에인의 손을 가위로 찌르게 된다. 꼬여가는 일때문에 술집에 들렀다가 집으로 돌아온 프랭크는 두에인이 자신의 집 안에서 총에 맞아 죽어있는 것을 발견하고, 뒤이어 들어온 약혼자 진이 경찰에 신고한다. 결국, 프랭크는 살인 용의자로 지목되고 모든 증거들이 그에게 불리하게 나타나는데...

The parables of the lost coin and the lost sheep are weaved into these three stories to show forgiveness for all sinners who repent. The video opens with Miriam working in a pub as a waitress and harlot. She is trapped in this life due to debt and guilt. A letter comes from her brother, Jonah, to the house of a scribe. The scribe reads the letter which tells of her brother's expected death. The scribe does not invite Miriam inside his house because he believes a sinner should not enter the house of the righteous.

그리 멀지 않은 미래, 전기공학자 프랭크 워렌(Frank Warren : 룻거 하우어 분)은 연인인 노엘(Noelle : 조안 첸 분), 동료 샘(Sam : 제임스 레마 분)과 함께 수백만 달러치의 다이아몬드 강탈 계획을 능란하게 실행에 옮긴다. 아슬아슬한 추격을 따돌리자마자 프랭크는 애인과 동료의 배신으로 잔인하게 총에 맞는다. 그러나 프랭크가 이미 다이아몬드를 비밀 장소에 감춰버렸을 뿐만 아니라 프랭크도 구사일생으로 총상에서 회복되는 행운을 얻는다. 그 행운도 잠시, 수감된 프랭크는 고도의 과학 기술이 탄생시킨, 동료 수감자와 100야드만 떨어지게되도 폭발하게 되는 무서운 폭탄 목걸리를 목에 달게 된다. 일명 '개목걸이(Wedlock)'. 더구나 떨어지면 터지게 하는 짝이 누군 지도 모른다. 그런데, 프랭크의 전과를 본 교도소장 워든 홀리데이(Warden Holliday : 스테판 토보로스키 분)은 프랭크를 추긍하여 다이아몬드를 손에 넣으려는 음흉한 사람이다. 하지만 프랭크의 고집 때문에 뜻을 이룰 수 없자, 다른 방법을 생각한다. 한편, 감옥에는 트레이시 리그스(Tracy Riggs : 미미 로저스 분)이라는 여죄수가 있는데 프랭크에게 자신이 '개목걸이' 파트너라고 밝히지만 프랭크는 그녀가 탈출을 시도할 때까지 좀처럼 믿지 못한다. 하지만 부상한 프랭크를 운반하려던 차를 타고 탈출을 시도하는데...
