미국 프로야구 마이너 리그의 신참 투수 잭 쿠퍼(Jack "Duece" Cooper: 맷 르블랑 분). 그는 데뷔 경기에서 가공할 강속구를 뿌려대지만 홈런을 얻어맞는 등 난타당한다. 한편 구단에서는 팀성적을 올리기 위해 에드라는 새로운 선수를 입단시킨다. 그런데 그는 놀랍게도 특유의 동물적 감각으로 뛰어난 야구재능을 보여주는 침팬지. 구단의 지시에 따라 이제 쿠퍼는 에드와 함께 방을 써야할 처지에 놓이는데, 둘은 처음부터 사이가 좋지 않다. 쿠퍼는 에드를 단순한 동물로 취급해 밖에서 잠을 잘 것을 요구하고, 음식도 개밥을 내주는데, 에드 역시 계속 쿠퍼를 골탕먹이며 대응한다. 다음 경기에서 수비수들의 실책이 이어지면서 위기에 처하게 된 쿠퍼의 팀은 마침내 에드를 출전시킨다. 그라운드에 나간 에드는 수비에서 안타성 타구를 잡아내고, 더블플레이까지 성공시킨다. 그리고 공격에서도 볼넷을 고른 후 도루를 성공시키는 등 공수에 걸쳐 맹활약을 펼쳐 팀은 경기에서 승리를 거둔다. 이후 쿠퍼와 에드의 관계도 좋아지고, 팀도 계속 연승행진을 이어간다. 그리고 에드는 폭발적인 인기를 얻으며 가는 곳마다 화제를 모으는 명사로 대접을 받는다. 그런데 돈벌이에 눈이 먼 구단주는 인기절정의 에드를 장사에 이용하기 위해 에드를 철장에 가둬두고 훈련을 시킨다. 이 사실을 안 쿠퍼는 에드를 구하기로 마음먹는데.

Memorial: Letters from American Soldiers is a 1991 American short documentary film directed by Bill Couturié. It shows footage from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, overlaid with readings of letters from US troops fighting in each war.
