We follow Otto Baxter, a 35-year-old man with Down Syndrome, over six years, as he writes and directs a foul-mouthed, autobiographical comedy-horror-musical set in Victorian London. Otto, who has always struggled to explain how he feels, uses his film The Puppet Asylum to explore his birth, adoption and his epic battle with ‘The Master’ – an evil magician hell-bent on controlling his life. During the filmmaking process Otto’s birth mother dies and he finds himself confronting life in the real world, including his future. Otto’s filmmaker friends Bruce Fletcher and Peter Beard help him to bring his vision to life, but also learn more about his unique perspective on the world and how they can play a role in his future.

여행 도중에 자동차가 부서져 사만다와 코리 두 사람은 작은 마을에 머물게 된다. 마을에는 이라크·잭이라고 불리는 이라크에서 돌아온 전직 병사가 있다. 그는 고독한 생활을 하고 있다. 그곳에서는 아이의 실종 사건이 빈발하고 있었는데 사람들은 이라크·잭을 의심하고 그를 두려워하고 있다. 이라크 잭이 낡은 풍차 탑에 올라가 죽으려 할 때 사만다는 몽유병처럼 밖으로 나와 이라크 잭에게 계시를 한다. Two down on their luck childhood friends struggle to figure out their lives. Ray a drummer in a rock and roll band, and Owen an aspiring film maker spend most of their time working menial jobs and drinking. When Owen's fiancé Lynn breaks off their engagement he finds himself spiraling, and allows Ray to come along with him to a two bit film festival he has been invited to in Kansas. There Owen makes several attempts to patch up his relationship, while Ray scams them into a deluxe suite at the local Four Seasons hotel by posing as Wally Shawn's son (who happens to be receiving a lifetime achievement award) and generally causes a major ruckus. By the end, Owen decides to make some changes in their relationship and in his life.
