‘U-Turn’ follows the story of a reporter; Raveena who gets unvoluntary involved in a murder case conducted by the police as she investigates accidents on a flyover.

Sangele (Dulani) is a girl who lives alone in a village of people . People in the city are trying to get close to her some even making sexual advances. Punchi Malli (Sanath) is very attracted to Sangile, even though he is married. Meanwhile, a hard working young Sunimal (Saranga) falls in love with Sangile. Punchi Malli was falsely accused in due to a rumor and sent to jail. During this time, Punchi Malli raped Sangile and Punchi Malli's wife (Veena) get to know about the hidden truth. She tried to blame Sangile for dirty works, however Punchi Malli punished her. Sangile gets pregnant and story continues.

A brave army Major stationed in area awaiting retirement. A female voluntary teacher convinces the Major about his Extra/Additional responsibility and tells what use of his many gallantry medals if people next door sleep in jungle at night or farmers languish in hunger without being able to cultivate. The Major, through army, trains the Home guards, turn them into a formidable force who protect the village when terrorists launch next attack to wipe out village.

The film deals with the inter-ethnic, communal violence between Sinhalese and Tamils. It demonstrates the ambivalence of the Sinhala socio-political establishment towards the Tamil people.

Suffocated by economic pressures and sexual frustrations, like most of his peers he sees going abroad as the only way out of his wretched existence. When the real world starts to look too bleak, Sasitha seeks greener pastures through virtual relationships he builds on Facebook and Skype with Sri Lankan women of his own class, working abroad. But when nothing seems to go right, he grows desperate.
