Eraclio "Elio" Petri (29 January 1929—10 November 1982) was an Italian writer and director known for his political mysteries and thrillers, such as "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion" (1970), "A Quiet Place in the Country" (1968) and "The Assassin" (1961).
