An insurance salesman's humdrum existence takes a turn when a stranger, ex-con Auggie Rose, unexpectedly dies in his arms. Assuming the identity of the dead man, the salesman embarks on a double life, keeping it secret from his live-in girlfriend.

In the 1980s, a filmmaker begins a project to record the life of an average kid. In Perry, Ohio, he picks Rich Longfellow, a shy lad, and begins filming. Soon after, he dies in Mozambique. Sixteen years later, his son continues the project, finding Rich, now 23, in L.A., with dreams of being a Shakespearean actor, getting experience in porn films. We meet Betsy, Rich's sensible girlfriend, Lee, the impatient producer, and Carmichael, a director with artistic pretensions who inspires Rich. Problems with Besty and tension on the set bring Rich to a crisis; when his boyhood friend starts a Shakespeare company that tours nursing homes in the San Fernando Valley, Rich sees a way out.

A group of young mutants--humans with a genetic variation that gives them superpowers and makes them feared by the population at large--begin training at a school for heroes. Their studies are interrupted when they must rescue one of their number from a mad scientist who can enter others' dreams.

대령 러드로우는 퇴역 후 알프레드, 트리스탄, 새뮤얼이라는 삼형제와 몬타나에서 살고 있다. 첫째인 알프레드는 성실하고 부지런한 모범생이었고, 둘째인 트리스탄은 강한 성격과 정렬적이며 남성적인 매력을 가지고 있었고, 막내 새뮤얼은 밝은 청년이었다.어느날 막내 새뮤얼은 매력적인 약혼녀 수산나를 고향으로 데리고 온다. 수산나는 보는 순간 알프레드와 트리스탄 역시 그녀에게 반해버린다. 그러나 제1차 세계대전이 발발해 세 형제는 모두 전쟁에 참가하나 새뮤얼은 적군의 총에 맞아 어이 없이 목슴을 잃게 되고, 알프레드는 불구가 된다. 동생을 지키지 못했다는 죄책감에 트리스탄은 바다로 떠나버린다. 그 후 알프레드와 수산나는 서로 사랑하게 되지만 어느날 트리스탄이 고향에 돌아오게 되고...

1편에서 사기꾼, 동물학대 수의사와 멋진 한판대결을 벌였던 베토벤이 이번엔 사랑에 빠진다. 화창한 여름날 거리엔 연인들이 거닐고, 다른 개들도 오붓하게 데이트를 즐기는데 베토벤은 외로움에 빠진다. 그러던 어느 날 공원에 산책을 나갔다가 미시라는 여자친구를 만나게 된다. 둘은 눈이 맞아 새끼 네마리를 낳는다. 행복한 가정을 꾸리고 살아가는 이들에게 사건이 벌어진다.
