Yonfan is a Hong Kong film director and photographer. He was born in Wuhan, Hubei, Republic of China. As the Yang family emigrated from mainland China, they lived first in Hong Kong for 3 years, and then moved to Taiwan when Yonfan was 5 years old.
He spent most of his childhood and adolescence in Taichung, Taiwan, and returned to Hong Kong in 1964 as a 17-year-old man to work as a photographer, but left for the United States in 1968 to study film. After a couple of years travelling through the United States, France and Britain, he returned to Hong Kong in 1973, and became a photographer noted for his celebrity portraits.
홍콩 뉴웨이브를 이끌었던 허안화 감독은 1947년 중국에서 태어나 홍콩으로 이주한 뒤 런던 영화학교에서 연출을 전공하였다. 1979년 장편 극영화 <풍겁>으로 데뷔한 후 2020년 <사랑 뒤의 사랑>까지 왕성한 활동을 하고 있는 허안화 감독의 영화에 대한 열정을 프로덕션 디자이너이자 예술 감독으로 알려진 만림중 감독이 카메라에 담고 있다. 만림중 감독의 감독 데뷔작으로, 이번 기획전에서 상영되는 허안화 감독의 <남인사십>의 미술을 담당하였다. 홍콩 영화를 사랑하는 팬이라면 꼭 보아야 하는 'must-see' 영화!
