El ayudante del elegido
An extraordinary black comedy that explores the limits of survival and absurdist political power games. The story takes place in times of elections in Mexico. A candidate for Governor runs over a pregnant migrant. After the accident, and to avoid a possible scandal, he hides her in a building he owns. Pressured by his political boss and so as not to ruin his political career, the candidate evicts the migrant. In a non-realistic style, the film focuses on the stories that surround the migrant during her search for a room. A radical film, with a critical gaze, that reflects the spirit of contemporary Mexican society.

MARCIAL’S VERSION juxtaposes reality with illusion, in a manner reminiscent of the ‘Film Noir’ style of the 40’s. Filmed in the underbelly of Buenos Aires, the film plunges the viewer in the murky investigation of a crime where love, money and betrayal are all intricately woven together. With seductive strains of Tango in the background, the viewer is jarred by the counterpoint between Marcial's discourse - his version of the events as told to the police - versus the truth on the screen.

Four young men are cited in a kiosk during a rainy afternoon. One has to study and the other three go to the cinema, although they are not allowed to entry because their young age. The group consists of Andrés, who works as bellboy in a hotel and dreams of becoming a bullfighter; Chispa, who follows the orders of an old grumpy man; Carlos, a student; and Negro, a shy boy. All they want is to have fun; but reality forces them to confront the problems of the adult world.
