A última quarta-feira antes do solstício de primavera abre o Ano Novo Persa, as pessoas soltam fogos de artifício seguindo uma tradição zoroastriana antiga. Rouhi, passando seu primeiro dia no novo emprego, se vê no meio de um tipo diferente de fogos de artifício - uma disputa doméstica entre seu novo chefe e a esposa. No dia anterior a sua viagem de férias para Dubai, uma mulher que acredita que seu marido é infiel, pede a ajuda de Roohi, uma jovem enviada por uma agência para limpar a casa. Ela pede a Roohi para marcar uma consulta e recolher informação no salão da mulher de quem ela suspeita. Roohi é noiva, inocente em termos de discórdia conjugal. Ao longo do dia, ela, o casal, seu filho pequeno, a irmã da esposa e seu marido, e a esteticista se envolvem em uma série de trocas, confrontos, e prevaricações. É dia de eleição, na caixa estão os materiais para os votos e é missão de um deles acompanhar um agente do governo responsável por recolher os votos dos habitantes da ilha. O guarda do turno prepara seu jipe, mas se assusta ao perceber que o agente do governo é na verdade uma mulher. A contragosto, os dois passarão o dia a recolher os votos, e conhecerão juntos um pouco mais da vida na ilha.

On a pilgrimage to Mashad from Tehran, a couple's transportation breaks down, far from any major town. The husband, a photographer, seeks help at a nearby village and encounters a teacher who offers to help. Whilst the husband and teacher go off to find a spare part, the wife, who used to be a teacher, takes over the teaching lessons in the village. It is clear that the children live there, in this strange deserted place, without any men, save the teacher and an old signal guard. As the day draws on, the children help to bring a new hope and life into the wife's heart.

Dash Akol is greatly respected in Shiraz as an honorable man who has lost his family's money through helping his friends. He has an enemy, however, named Kaka Rostam, a mean and spiteful person. Dash Akol, who is in his forties, falls in love with Marjan, daughter of the late Haji Samad, for whose estate he is the executor. But he keeps his love secret. One day a suitor asks for Marjan's hand, and Dash Akol considers it against his code of honor to refuse. On the night of the wedding, Dash Akol hands over responsibility for the family to the bridegroom. As he is leaving the house, however, Kaka Rostam is waiting for him and a fight ensues. Kaka Rostam stabs him in the back, but Dash Akol succeeds in killing him. On his deathbed, Dash Akol sends his parrot to Marjan with the confession of love he has taught it.

Wounded by the police, a thief looks up his old friend in order to leave the proceeds of his theft with him. Instead, he finds that his friend is a drug addict. He sticks around to try and help his friend kick the habit; instead, both men are caught in a shootout with the police and...
