Depois da destruição da Assíria, os vitoriosos babilônicos ficaram com as terras baixas da Mesopotâmia, as quais transformaram-se na base do novo Império do Oriente Médio, no reino de Nabucodonosor (605-562 a.C.). As terras altas do leste passaram ao domínio dos medos. Em 550 a.C., Ciro, naquele tempo príncipe da Pérsia e vassalo dos medos, rebelou-se e derrotou o rei dos medos, juntando mais tarde medos e persas para fundar o primeiro Império Persa (ou Aquemênida). Com as campanhas seguintes somaram-se Ásia Menor, Babilônia, Afeganistão e, depois da morte de Ciro, o Egito, formando-se assim o maior e mais poderoso império conhecido até então.
Devdas, the son of a zamindar, and Parvati, his neighbour's daughter, are childhood sweethearts. However, class and caste differences prevent their marriage. Of that copy almost forty percent is destroyed.
