Bardo (2010)

"The Bear Joseph", so named because of a fight with a bear, is rescued by Wally, a farmer's daughter, from a dangerous situation in a vulture's nest. He then calls her "Geierwally". They fall in love. Wally's father disapproves of this romance. He has other plans for Wally.

"Along the coast of the Bering Sea a community of whale hunters are struggling to survive keeping alive a millenary tradition. Surviving one of the most extreme environments of the planet."

An apocalyptic story of three wars in three film tales encompassing the end of the WWI,WWII, as well as a vision of the world destroyed by nuclear weapons. This film was honored at the film festivals in Venice and Sorrento. Immediately after that the copy with Italian subtitles was locked in a safe as evidence of the anti-communist activities of the director, who used real footage of the Soviet invasion.

"Far above information is gathered, collected, processed. From this vantage point, borders are data points, just more manipulations of the land below. Territories are clearly demarcated, and where there is unclarity, there is tension. Over time, the information is the landscape, there is little need for physicality - it is just digested and stored like everything else. The engine is ever hungry."

END is a research project into the image and the imagination of the end.
