De férias em Los Angeles, Walter, o maior fã dos Muppets em todo o mundo, seu irmão Gary e sua amiga Mary descobrem um nefasto plano de um ganancioso explorador de petróleo para destruir o teatro Muppet. Agora, o trio precisa reunir Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie e seus amigos para o maior telethon Muppet de todos os tempos e salvar o adorado teatro. Um empresário convida os Muppets para uma turnê mundial. Kermit desconfia de suas intenções, hesita, mas o grupo acaba aceitando a proposta. Nesse filme de natal, os Muppets recontam a clássica história "A Christmas Carol". O protagonista do filme, Ebenezer Scrooge, não é interpretado por um muppet, mas sim por um ator de carne e osso: Michael Caine, mas os Muppets estão muito presentes na história. Caco, o Sapo, faz o papel de Bob Cratchit, o Urso Fozzie faz Fozziwig (que na história original é chamado de Fezziwig), Robin faz o Pequeno Tim e Gonzo faz o próprio Charles Dickens, que aparece como narrador da história.

Nessa história, Caco e Fozzie são irmãos gêmeos (apesar de um ser um sapo e o outro um urso) que trabalham como jornalistas e Gonzo os acompanha como fotógrafo. Os três são mandados para a Inglaterra para investigar um roubo de um colar de diamantes e acabam se metendo em muitas encrencas. Todos os outros personagens do Muppet Show fazem aparições no filme, assim como Oscar, da Vila Sésamo.

Depois que Gonzo recebe mensagens de seu cereal matinal, ele determina que ele é um alienígena e tenta contatar seus irmãos alienígenas, mas é capturado por uma agência secreta do governo, determinada a provar a existência de vida extraterrestre. Cabe a Kermit e sua turma resgatar Gonzo e ajudar a reuni-lo com sua família há muito perdida.

Os Muppets vão tentar a vida em Nova York, onde esperam se tornar grandes artistas. A sorte não os ajuda e eles passam por períodos difíceis, morando em armários de estações rodoviárias. Até que um dia, um golpe de sorte torna possível seus sonhos. E eles invadem a Broadway!

Filmed right after the merger between Disney and Jim Henson productions, the Muppet's are featured heading to the greatest place on earth, Walt Disney World. Kermit and Robin take the gang to the swamp for a vacation in Califorina. It is the annual Bug Fry and it's a journey to the roots again for Kermit and Robin. However, the rest of the cast is less than excited about being in a stinking bog. When it is mentioned that they can see the fireworks from Disney, everyone is excited and wants to go to the park instead of being at the bug fry. Kermit says the'll take a short peak and be right back. As the Muppets accidentally break into the park, security tries to round them all up as they visit all of the parks. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney/MGM. Finally, after being round back up, they get a chance to meet the one and only Mickey Mouse and show a huge musical number at the end.

Kermit the Frog throws a glamorous party at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub to celebrate the premiere of the Muppets' first feature film, The Muppet Movie. Hosts Dick van Dyke and Rita Moreno interview the wide array of celebrities and Muppets who attend the event. Gary Owens serves as off-camera announcer, and appears on-screen to introduce Miss Piggy.
