Bellini (Fábio Assunção) foi incumbido de chefiar o escritório de Dora Lobo, já que ela resolveu tirar férias para curtir seu novo amor, Zapotec. Porém a situação não anda boa para o detetive. Sem casos para resolver e cheio de contas a pagar, ele é forçado a fechar o escritório. Ao perambular pelo submundo ele é contratado por uma pessoa misteriosa, que deseja que ele encontre o paradeiro de um antigo livro, que está envolto numa série de crimes brutais que ocorrem ao longo dos anos. Paralelamente a jornalista Gala, que já teve um caso com Bellini, investiga a morte de uma garota brutalmente assassinada no banheiro de um colégio de classe média. Sua investigação faz com que reencontre Bellini, com quem passa a trabalhar junto. Só que a busca de ambos pelo livro desaparecido começa a incomodar a polícia.
