Grace Beasley (Kathy Bates) dedicou sua vida à criação de seus filhos e a cuidar de seu marido, Max (Dan Ayrkoyd), além de sonhar com o cantor romântico Victor Fox (Jonathan Pryce). Passando por uma crise de meia idade, Max resolve por se separar de Grace para poder viver uma aventura.
