O Cardeal Richelieu (Nigel De Brulier), envolvido em intrigas na corte de Louis XIII (Adolphe Menjou), ameaça a rainha (Mary MacLaren), que é secretamente apaixonado pelo Duque de Buckingham (Thomas Holding). As intenções do cardeal é uma jogada para desonrar Anne, que é Rainha da Áustria, desonrando desta forma também a própria França, e despertando a revolta de Louis XIII, impedindo, então, a união política dos dois países, e desta maneira tirar proveitos para seus próprios benefícios: conseguindo o respeito e agradecimento do rei e aumentando o seu poder palaciano. Enquanto isso, da Gasconha vem D'Artagnan (Douglas Fairbanks) aderir aos Mosqueteiros do Rei, na sua busca incansável por aventuras. Um novo hóspede, Jonathan Drew chega ao hotel do casal Bunting, em Bloomsbury, e aluga um quarto. O homem tem estranhos hábitos, como o de sair em noites nevoentas. Ele também guarda a foto de uma moça loira em seu quarto. A filha dos Bunting, Daisy, também loira, é modelo e está noiva de Joe Chandler, um detetive. Quando Joe encontra Jonathan, logo fica enciumado deste flertar com Daisy, e o prende, acusando-o de ser o temível Jack o Estripador.

Por volta de 1920, em Londres, a filha de um lojista namora um detetive da Scotland Yard, que mostra estar mais interessado no seu trabalho do que em estar com ela. Assim, ela decide secretamente se encontrar com outro homem, mas quando este tenta estuprá-la ela o mata com uma faca. Quando o corpo é descoberto quem assume o caso é exatamente o namorado da jovem envolvida, que rapidamente deduz que ela é a assassina em virtude de uma luva deixada no local do crime. Ele no entanto encobre o caso, mas um outro homem pretende chantageá-la e para isto ele tem a outra luva, que pode ligá-la ao crime.
