Sinopse
Ele está decidido a levar o bhangra, tradicional dança do Punjab, aos palcos de todo mundo. Mas, para isso, vai ter de enfrentar uma adversária que tem outros objetivos.
Em 1958, logo após a mudança para Cuba com seus pais, Katey Mille (Romola Garai), uma garota 18 anos, desafia seu círculo social ao encontrar-se com Javier (Diego Luna), um garçom cubano apaixonado pela dança.
Em 1959 na Califórnia, o greaser Danny Zuko e a australiana Sandy Olsson estão apaixonados. Passam todo o tempo na praia, mas quando regressam às aulas, o que nenhum deles sabe é que ambos entraram na escola de Rydell High.
