Para fazer o pai da moça de bobo, o Vagabundo se veste de mulher. O homem fica interessado em "Nora Nettlerash", o nome que o Vagabundo inventou na hora. Quando o pai descobre que "Nora" é o homem que o levou na direção do lago, fica furioso e acaba expulsando o Vagabundo da sua casa.

Three Chaplin silent comedies "A Dog's Life", "Shoulder Arms", and "The Pilgrim" are strung together to form a single feature length film. Chaplin provides new music, narration, and a small amount of new connecting material. "Shoulder Arms" is now described as taking place in a time before "the atom bomb".

City Lights would not be a talking picture, but it would have a soundtrack. Chaplin personally composed a musical score and sound effects for the picture.
