Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, um bombardeio destrói a cidade de Londres, forçando diversas crianças a buscarem abrigo em cidades menores da Inglaterra. Edward é uma destas crianças traumatizadas, que acaba de perder os pais e não pronuncia uma palavra sequer. Ele é acolhido pela governanta Jean e pela professora Eve na Mansão do Pântano. O abrigo está caindo aos pedaços, mas serve como refúgio ao pequeno grupo. Aos poucos, no entanto, uma série de acontecimentos assustadores passam a afetar os novos hóspedes.

Unable to pay bills, he threatens the Money Lender. Coincidentally the Money Lender is killed the same night and Hariram is tried and convicted of the crime. Rattan, now alone, gets help from Con-Man Ghasita and a young bunch of street children in his quest to reach New Delhi and free his father.

One day while returning from office, Sunil is attracted by the sight of a wayside carnival and decides to try the Giant Wheel drive reminiscing his childhood days. Geeta suspects Sunil is seeing someone else and even though Sunil says the truth to Geeta, she doesn't believe it and so starts a hilarious and twisted tale that engulfs three happily married couples.

Saaheb is the youngest of the four brothers and son of Badri Prasad Sharma. Hrishikesh Mukherjee's direction and screenplay makes this movie a gem and worth watching again and again.

Rustom Patel is the rival union leader whose methods are completely opposite to Madhav's ideals. The two unions clash on the Chhotelal's compensation issue. The climax shows Madhav Verma using the same exact tactics of his rival against them.
