John Abbott returns to the desert land he owns, and after being wounded by hired gunman Chick Chance, he is befriended by rancher Andrew Naab and his son, Marvin. Naab's daughter, Marian, falls in love with John but is about to marry Snap Thornton to keep a promise made by her father. She runs away on her wedding day but is captured and held hostage by outlaw Henry Holderness. John, the Naabs and fellow ranchers rush to her rescue.

Ele aceita voltar ao trabalho, desde que o seu salário seja dobrado. Porém, Juan não sabe que pode estar negociando a própria vida: os vermes malditos continuam à solta, esperando para devorar mais e mais mineiros.

Em pleno século XIX Samuel Jones decide voltar para casa, após muitos anos ausente, numa tentativa de fazer as pazes com sua filha Maggie. Maggie não vê o pai desde quando era criança, mas precisa de sua ajuda quando sua filha mais velha é sequestrada por Chidin, um psicopata que possui poderes místicos. Chidin já sequestrou outras crianças, sendo o responsável por uma grande quantidade de mortos no Novo México. Juntos, Samuel e Maggie precisam encontrá-la antes que Chidin atravesse a fronteira com o México.
