Em 1975, depois da Revolução dos Cravos em Portugal, muitos estrangeiros e portugueses do norte vão para a região central do país para ajudar nas recém-formadas cooperativas. Mas suas visões progressistas sobre os costumes e a sexualidade logo se chocam com os comportamentos locais. O filme nasceu de um conjunto de relatos orais, textos literários e diários sobre essa experiência. Entre os portugueses das aldeias e os estrangeiros, chamados de turistas revolucionários, criaram-se tensões, mas também cumplicidade e, em alguns casos, amor.
