Num hotel familiar junto à costa norte de Portugal, vivem várias mulheres da mesma família de gerações diferentes. Numa relação envenenada pela amargura tentam sobreviver no hotel em decadência. A chegada inesperada de uma neta a este espaço claustrofóbico provoca perturbação e o avivar de ódios latentes e rancores acumulados.

Like every summer, little Salomé returns to her family village nestled in the Portuguese mountains for the holidays. Sita Valles viveu 26 anos. Nasceu em Angola em 1951 e ali morreu, em 1977, em circunstâncias misteriosas. Estudou Medicina em Lisboa, e foi uma dirigente estudantil carismática e militante do PCP. No Verão de 1975 decidiu voltar a Angola, que considerava o seu país, ligando-se a um grupo de pessoas, mais tarde apelidados de fraccionistas, que questionavam a linha ideológica do MPLA. Acusada de ser uma das cabecilhas da alegada tentativa de golpe de estado de 27 Maio de 77, Sita é perseguida e presa. Rumores indiciam que foi torturada e morreu frente a um pelotão de fuzilamento. Nos dois anos que se seguiram mais de trinta mil pessoas tiveram o mesmo fim, ou passaram anos em cadeias e campos de concentração. Testemunhos dos sobreviventes, guiam-nos na possível reconstituição da vida e do tempo de Sita Valles, vida que terminou num episódio traumático, de uma violência absurda, e há muito silenciado.

In the early 70s, Camilo de Sousa left Lourenço Marques, Mozambique, travelled Europe, joined the Frelimo guerrilla and became a filmmaker. Now living in Portugal, he returns to Mozambique to be reunited with two former comrades in arms. With Aleixo Caindi and Julião Papalo, he recalls ancient times, when the joy of liberation made way for dark times and the quest for a ‘new man’ destroyed a country’s dreams and illusions.
