Eles não podem abandonar o lugar e vivem num perpétuo estado de vigilância. Porém, a comida está cada vez mais escassa, faltam remédios e munições. Para encontrá-los devem abandonar a área segura, mas ao redor da pequena zona habitada rondam ameaças de seres que eles nem se atrevem a falar.

Life in this coastal place will be savagely affected by the arrival of a plague that infects the whole planet: the dead are rising from their tombs and devouring the living. Zombies have invaded earth. Maddie, a young woman incapable of making her own decisions, lives a placid and grey existence alongside her husband Jack, an illiterate and brutal lobster fisherman. Due to a terrible accident at sea, the mariner will die, swallowed by the waves. But the plague which runs rampant throughout Earth will also affect Jack, who will return from the dead and rise from his watery grave to visit his beloved wife.

Azucena lives in fear of sex and physical contact, hiding in her own sheltered world. Cesar, a plastic artist feels an obsessive attraction for Azucena, as a result, making her his inspiration. This obsession is painfully observed by Jacinto, the unstable artist's lover, who is himself involved in a violent and destructive relationship with Cesar.

The French Government overflowed by the human avalanche, put them in improvised refugee camps. Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, former consul in Spain before the war, convinced the President of Chile to save more than two thousand refugees. The film tells the story of Julia, a little girl that escapes Barcelona with his father, a young widower. They embarked on the Winnipeg, a ship chartered by Neruda. That saved them from a dark future in Europe. Now, she is “a daughter of Neruda”, as the descendants of the 2,200 refugees call themselves.
