A man suffers from mental illness after having lived with a mother suffering from dementia and a brother addicted to gambling. Now institutionalized, he falls in love with a nurse at the psychiatric hospital.

Shin-ae moves to her recently late husband’s hometown. Despite her efforts to settle in this unfamiliar and too-normal place, she finds that she can’t fit in. After a sudden tragedy, Shin-ae turns to Christianity to relieve her pain, but when even this is not permitted, she wages a war against God.

A famous writer, Lee Joon-seop, returns to his hometown to attend his mother's funeral. Lee's illegitimate niece, who has been ostracized from the family, has also returned home for the funeral. While the funeral ceremonies take place, various old family conflicts reassert themselves. During the action of the story, a parallel children's story written by Lee is read by the illegitimate niece. The story describes a grandmother who gives her life force to her growing granddaughter, resulting in the grandmother becoming gradually younger until she reverts into an infant and finally leaves for the next world.

Um homem chega a uma pequena taberna na aldeia de montanha. Ele está perdido em memórias ao som de pansori cantadas pelo dono da taverna. Em sua memória, ele é jovem e Yu-bong (Kim Myung-kon), uma cantora pansori vem para a aldeia. Uma mulher da aldeia, a mãe de Dong-ho (Kim Kyu-chul), se apaixona por Yu-bong e deixa a vila com Dong-ho e Yubong. Dong-ho e sua mãe, Yu-bong e sua filha Song-hwa (Oh Jeong-hae). A company is studying the possibility to open a spa hotel named after a mythical island, Ieodo. The island is inhabited by the souls of drowned sailors. During a study trip to the location of the hotel lost a journalist under mysterious circumstances. One of the contractors go to Ieodo's neighboring island, populated by widows of the dead sailors, to unravel the disappearance.
