Durante um incêndio em um bosque alguns bombeiros observam que numa parede em chamas há o formato de uma mulher. Quarenta anos se passam e um dos bombeiros, fascinado com a visão, decidiu dedicar a sua vida ao estudar esse estranho fenômeno que são as serpentes de fogo. Assim, ele é chamado para trabalhar em um departamento do governo especializado nesse estudo. Quando uma nova serpente de fogo cai, outro bombeiro fica fascinado e se dedica à mesma coisa. Os dois mais um agente nacional do fogo, irão a uma caçada que poderá se tornar perigosa quando um louco sádico e fanático religioso conseguir capturar umas serpentes, e assim poder usá-las em um ataque nas reservas próximas, criando caos e morte.
