Destination X (2012) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) promotion, which took place on July 8, 2012 at the Impact Wrestling Zone in Orlando, Florida. It was the eighth show under the Destination X chronology and seventh event in the 2012 TNA PPV schedule. Unlike last year, the event was held inside of a four-sided ring as opposed to a six-sided ring. The main event featured at the Destination X was Austin Aries defeating Bobby Roode for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Other high profile matches included A.J Styles defeating Christopher Daniels in a Last Man Standing match and Samoa Joe defeating Kurt Angle in a Bound for Glory Series match. The remainder of the show hosted an X Division Tournament to determine a new TNA X Division Champion.

Final Battle 2010 was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by Ring of Honor. It took place on December 18, 2010, at the Manhattan Center in New York City. It was the eighth annual event in the Final Battle chronology, with the first taking place in 2002, but only the second to be broadcast live. It was the fifth ROH event to be shown as an online pay-per-view. On the morning before the airing of the event, the Vice President of the National Wrestling Alliance stripped Christian Cage of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and Team 3D of the NWA World Tag Team Championships due to Cage's refusal to defend the World Title in various NWA Territories. The NWA severed all ties with TNA, although the affected champions still had physical possession of the belts. The affected champions defended their "status" as champions.

The show was promoted as TNA's premiere PPV event and their equivalent to the rival World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) WrestleMania. The main event was for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, in which champion Jeff Jarrett fought the challenger Rhino with Tito Ortiz as Special Guest Referee. The match was originally Jarrett versus Kevin Nash with Ortiz as referee, however Nash was not cleared to wrestle due to a medical emergency. A Ten-Man Gauntlet match was held to determine Nash's replacement, which Rhino won.

The main event was a Tag Team match between the team of Jeff Jarrett and Rhino facing the team of Raven and Sabu, in which if Jarrett pinned Raven he would earn a future NWA World Heavyweight Championship match. If Raven pinned Jarrett in the contest, then Jarrett would not receive a championship match for an entire year.
