Mas ele aborda também temas mais polêmicos, como a angústia de Marley por ser mulato, sofrendo “bullying” na infância por isso, e como os relacionamentos e filhos extraconjugais afetaram a vida dele com a esposa, Rita, e com a filha Cedella. Estima-se que Marley tenha tido 11 filhos com sete mulheres.
