Maximiliano Schonfeld (Crespo, Argentina. 1982) studied film at the ENERC. He has directed the series Ander Egg and El lobo with the backing of the INCAA. Germania (2012), his first film, won the Special Jury Prize at the BAFICI 2013 and Best First Feature at Hamburg Festival. La helada negra (The Black Frost, 2015), his second film, screened in the Panorama section of the Berlin Festival. His first documentary, La siesta del tigre (2016), premiered in the International Competition at Doclisboa 2016. Jesús López participated in Proyecta 2018 and in WIP Latam at San Sebastian Festival in 2020.

Three farmers work on a farm in Entre Ríos, a sparsely populated lowland region of Argentina traversed by rivers. Their crops are affected by ‘black frost’ which threatens to destroy their harvest. One day, a young woman appears at their door; blithely and self-assuredly she begins to influence their familiar routines. The bewildered farmers yield to Alejandra’s interventions: she dons Heribertos’ dead wife’s clothes, accompanies Benigno to a greyhound race and wins young Lucas’ friendship. Shortly afterwards, the frost disappears.
