Dave Vanian (born David Lett, 12 October 1956, Hemel Hempstead, England) is a rock musician, famous for being the lead singer of the punk rock band The Damned. The band formed in 1976 in London and Vanian is the only ever-present member of the group. They were the first of the British punk bands to release a single, an album, have a record hit the UK charts, and tour the United States.
The programme includes The Damned’s set-smashing performance on The Old Grey Whistle Test and the Sex Pistols' anarchic trip on the Thames. It also features powerful live performances from Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Gang of Four, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Tubeway Army, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Soft Cell, The Selecter, Joy Division and the Au Pairs. A Night of A Thousand Vampires teams the band with the cast of The Circus of Horrors for an evening of shock, awe, and a fierce live rampage through their 40-year rich catalogue. A true event from showmen supreme, it was a historic night in the history of a storied band and a memorable evening for fans and band alike. It was also a fond farewell for drummer Pinch, his final gig with The Dammed after 20 years.

The Damned continued to fuel the ardent fires of old fans and new long after the flames of The Sex Pistols and The Clash had been extinguished. Final Damnation is a testament to their longevity and popularity, reeking as it does of fannish glee. It's essentially a document about the legendary reunion concert at London's Town and Country Club in June, 1988, a 17-song set of "chaos music".
