Nontawat Numbenchapol (Thai : นนทวัฒน์ นำเบญจพล; born May 2, 1983) is a Thai documentary film director and cinematographer. After graduating from the Visual Communication Design Department, Faculty of Art and Design, Rangsit University, Numbenchapol has pursued his career as a filmmaker. After Siam and Lido, the first two standalone cinemas in Siam Square disappeared in flames long ago. Scala cinema became the last stand-alone cinema in Bangkok that was still open until it was defeated by Covid 19 in 2020. Not long after its last film screening, Scala declared that it will be dismantled. A filmmaker who is also the daughter of one of its former employees, started to explore Scala and unexpectedly faced her long lost childhood memories when she met her father's old friend gathered for the final job which is dismantling their workplace.

The film is based on interviews of 100 Thai teenagers age between 17-19 with diverse gender identities. They have shared their experiences, personal life, and attitude towards their social life in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, where they have grown up in. The common theme of these stories is their coming of age, confusion with dreams and love, while parenting is the major factor. “#BKKY” is narrated through teenager’s interview by creating a new character named JoJo, a 17-year-old girl who represents all stories during the transitioning moment from 12th grade to university, the moment that they have many first experiences of life and simultaneously try to discover their true identities.

The 2011 New Year celebration at the Ratchaprasong Junction in Bangkok. This is where demonstrators’ protests were violently crushed a few months earlier, with more than 100 people ending up dead. It was there that the conflict between the largely rural "red shirts" and the more affluent, royalist "yellow shirts" escalated. How did this come to pass? Filmmaker Nontawat Numbenchapol came across young soldier Aod by chance, who had just completed his military service, and asked if he could accompany the soldier on his way home. Aod’s village is on the border to Cambodia and near the Hindu temple of Prasat Preah Vihea, which both countries claim as their own. Here too, a violent conflict is smouldering.
