Moussa Théophile Sowie a suivi une formation notamment à l'Institut des études théâtrales Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle et à l'Ecole d'art dramatique Jacques Lecoq à Paris. Quatro meninas conseguem fugir do ritual e buscam proteção na casa de Collé, uma mulher que há pouco tempo foi a primeira a não permitir que sua filha fosse cortada. Para proteger as meninas Collé inicia o Moolaadé, uma tradição em que nenhuma mulher pode entrar em sua casa e que se pode ser quebrada se Collé pronunciar uma palavra. Uma disputa política vai se iniciar na aldeia para fazer com que Collé pronuncie a palavra a qualquer custo.
