DJ Jazzy Jeff nasceu em 15 de janeiro de 1965 na Filadélfia, Pensilvânia, EUA como Jeffrey Allen Townes. Ele é um ator, conhecido por The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990), Strange Days (1995) e Boyz n the Hood (1991). Fez parte da dupla de hip-hop DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince junto com Will Smith, com quem ganhou dois prêmios Grammy. DJ lendário de hip-hop da Filadélfia e especialista em turntablista que ganhou competições de DJ, como o DJ Battle For World Supremacy de 1986 do New Music Seminar. Embora ele nunca tenha competido nas competições do DMC World Championship, ele está no hall da fama do DMC por suas contribuições ao mundo do hip-hop e DJing.
