British actress best known for playing Anne Frank in a 1987 4 part BBC adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank, and as Jane Austen's heroine Catherine Moreland in a BBC film version of Northanger Abbey opposite Peter Firth. Other roles include Susie in Kathy Staff sitcom No Frills and the evil Gwendolyn in 1989 Doctor Who serial Ghost Light. She was the niece of director John Schlesinger and now teaches drama for children in North London.
