O filme retrata a história do resgate de Manuel Valenzuela, que foi raptado pelo maligno Victor Stagnetti. Isabella, a noiva de Manuel, é jogada da prancha durante o incidente.
Ela é encontrada por um grupo de piratas, se tornando hóspede do Sea Stallion (Garanhão dos mares, em português). O capitão, Edward Reynolds, que sonha em se tornar o maior de todos os caçadores de piratas, é convencido a perseguir Stagnetti.
