Soon realizing that he has dialed the wrong number, the caller hangs up, but not before a familar voice says "Good morning!" on the other line. Conan deducts that the caller had meant to dial a similar number, and calls Heiji over to mimick his voice and call a list of similar numbers. Only one person responds; Iwatsume. The detectives approach him and question him to discover that the man had paid 10,000,000 yen to retrieve his stolen jewel. After realizing the meager ransom, which was a tenth of the value of the diamond, it is discovered that the returned gem was a fake.

Um filme altamente experimental que apresenta uma história fora de ordem cronológica que ocorre 15 anos após uma catástrofe quase apocalíptica, sobre quatro jovens traumatizados de 14 anos que são encarregados de pilotar armas maciças humanóides chamadas de Evangelion, os adultos psicologicamente desajustados que os manipulam e comandam e os eventos e forças que os afetam ou dos quais eles participam enquanto enfrentam invasores hostis em massa conhecidos como "Anjos".

Renascimento do Evangelho foi o terceiro filme de "Evangelho Nova Génese" a ser lançado no Japão. Renascimento é finalmente a "visão final" de GAINAX e Anno Hideaki. Ele combina partes dos dois primeiros filmes, "Evangelho Nova Génese: Morte e Ressurreição" e "O Fim do Evangelho", numa longa produção.

Tanto este filme, como o anterior (Morte e Renascimento), caracterizam o "final alternativo" de Neon Genesis Evangelion. Por ser um final alternativo, os episódios 25 e 26 da série original são desconsiderados. "O Fim de Evangelion", assim como "Morte e Renascimento", é divido em duas partes: A primeira é a repetição de "Renascimento" com mais cenas e renomeado para "Air" (chamado também de "Episódio 25"). A segunda parte é chamada de "Heart" (ou "Episódio 26"). O filme mostra o verdadeiro final da série. Todos os acontecimentos de Neon Genesis Evangelion culminaram para esse ponto. O Terceiro Impacto começa e cabe a Shinji Ikari decidir o futuro da humanidade. Sem deixar os momentos de ação e de filosofia de lado (e também muitas indagações), "O Fim de Evangelion" é um final merecido para série.

Filme dividido em duas partes (Morte e Renascimento). Os eventos de "Renascimento" ocorrem 17 horas depois do final do Episódio 24. Tanto este filme, como o próximo (O Fim de Evangelion), caracterizam o "final alternativo" de Neon Genesis Evangelion. Os episódios 25 e 26, portanto, NÃO fazem parte deste enredo, onde a primeira parte é uma reedição dos primeiros 24 episódios do anime. A segunda parte consiste em uma nova animação e história que segue após o Episódio 24.
