Helena Meirelles, 80 anos de idade, recebeu o prêmio Spotlight Artist da revista norte-americana Guitar Player em 1993. Logo após, foi incluída entre as 100 palhetas do século. Só então gravou o seu primeiro CD. Violeira do Pantanal, talento original do Brasil, ela passou boa parte da vida tocando em bordéis em Mato Grosso. Além disso, foi lavadeira e bezendeira. Helena, com seu instumento, traduz a alma do sertão brasileiro.
